Spiralastic Book PageWith WWII in full force, Mr. Amato predicts a shortage in wire raw material coming from Europe and stocks up on a 2 year supply, but the U.S. Government seizes the raw material in order to produce machine gun triggers. As a result, Spiral develops Plastic Coil Binding which becomes a great success. Today, Spiral markets the same product under the trademarked name Spiralastic®.
1945
World War II ends and the economy rebounds. Spiral's customers grow, and like Mead, many want to bring the binding process in-house. As a result, Spiral sells some of their binderies and the equipment division flourishes.
1947
Electrical Manufacturing Product Design Contest Award9th Annual Electrical Manufacturing Product Design Contest bestows a product design award to Spiral for the push-button operated wire spiral book binding machine.
1948
Equipment division relocates to Newark, NJ from New York City.
1947 Spiral AdA new World Record set as Spiral binds 9,980 books in 8 1/2 hours on Friday, January 16th.
