Description

Pouch boards are one of our best-selling products in the laminating/mounting field. But what exactly is a pouch board? They are a convenient tool that essentially combines a mount board, a laminate pouch, and a mounting adhesive into one piece. These boards have a laminate sheet attached to one side, sealed to the short end of the board. Simply lift the laminate sheet to insert your print below, peel off the adhesive liner, and seal your print using pressure (or a board-compatible cold mounting/laminating machine). With just pressure, the adhesive below the print activates, along with the adhesive on the laminate itself, to mount and laminate in one step. Pouch mounting boards are a cost-effective solution that not only saves you money, but also a lot of time. Instead of adding adhesive to your boards (step one), then mounting your print to the adhesive (step 2), and then applying a laminate to the print (step 3), pouchboards get it all done in one run.

These particular pouch boards are made with a plastic corrugated board, which features vertical fluting sandwiched between two rigid plastic sheets. Vertical fluting means that the 1st dimension is the width of the board, and the 2nd is the height; they cannot be interchanged if using traditional sign stakes. Corrugated plastic boards are perfect for outdoor signage, especially when paired with metal lawn signs. Retail shops, real estate agencies, and political candidates are just a few of the popular users. They are 4mm thick, available in white, and stocked in select popular sizes including 18.5" x 12", 24.5" x 18", and 36.5" x 24". The attached laminate sheet has a gloss finish that helps enhance colors and contrast for a truly vibrant print.

Polar Cub Laminator: Mounting to an Adhesive Board

Transcript: Hi, often times it's easier to mount your print on a board that is larger than your image. This is easy to do with polar laminators. Hi, often times it's easier to mount your print on a board that is larger than your image. This is easy to do with polar laminators. We are going to mount our print with an adhesive coated board. The adhesive is coated over the board's entire surface. The first step is to remove an inch of the cover sheet to expose the adhesive at the leading edge of the board. Here we're tearing the sheet against the straight edge, but you can also just fold back the cover sheet as well. Next we will tack down our print to the board. Make sure the board covers the entire print. Don't worry about the adhesive, your print does not cover. The adhesive will not stick to the polar laminators, silicon rollers. Now that our print is tacked down, we are ready to use the Polar Cub. Remove the table, clamp and place the puller tables on a flat surface. Insert the tacked edge of your print into the rollers which have been set to the thickness of your board. Now feed your print between the top roller and the media guide until it is smooth against the roll, and then close the media guide. Your hands are free to remove the rest of the cover sheet on the board, and your print is held safely in place until you're ready to process it. Just remove the rest of the cover sheet to expose the adhesive on the whole board. Now we can roll down our print. As you can see, none of the adhesive which isn't covered by our print sticks to the rollers, and rolling down the print is smooth with professional results. We can just trim off the excess board easily with an x-acto knife and our laminators is clean and ready for our next laminating project.

Today, we're going to mount a print to foam board and apply a laminate film over the surface of the print using polar pouch board. The first step we will do is lift up the laminate sheet from the board and place the film between the media guide and the rollers. All the films we use have UV inhibitors and are of professional quality. The next step is to close the media guide, to hold the film in place. Now we can place our print on the board, because the cover sheet is still on the pouch board. We can move our print until we have it exactly where we want it. Now, all we have to do is turn the handle to roll down the film, and we have laminated our print. Our next step is to adhere or mount our laminated print to the foam board. Our first step is to peel back the laminated print and again, place it between the media guide and the rollers, and then close the media guide. Now we can remove the cover sheet from the foam board to expose the adhesive on the board. The surface of the board is now tacky. Now we just roll down our print to mount it to the board, and we're done. We've professionally mounted laminated print in about two minutes.
